Delete your account.
Last updated: April 2026
You can delete your Kapota account at any time. This page explains exactly how, what gets deleted, and what is kept.
How to delete your account from inside the app
- Open the Kapota app on your device
- Sign in to the account you want to delete
- Tap your profile icon to go to Settings
- Tap Account
- Tap Delete Account
- Confirm by entering your email address and tapping Delete my account
You will see an immediate on-screen confirmation, and you will be signed out across all your devices.
If you can't access the app
If you no longer have access to your Kapota account or the app, email us at [email protected] from the email address associated with your account. Include "Delete account request" in the subject line.
We will verify ownership of the account and process the deletion within 30 days of verification.
What gets deleted
When your account is deleted, the following is permanently removed from our active systems:
- Your profile (name, photo, bio, interests, languages, date of birth, gender)
- Your account credentials and email address
- Your messages, both sent and received (where technically possible — see below)
- Your Pulse posts, group memberships, and group chat messages
- Your connection requests, sent and received
- Your business profile and deals (for business accounts)
- Your city posts and announcements (for city accounts)
- Your subscription tier and Founding Pro status
- Your approximate location and proximity history
- Your photos uploaded to Kapota
- Your AI-generated content (Group Cards, marketing flyers)
What is kept
The following may be retained for the periods indicated:
- Messages you sent to other users — copies in those recipients' conversation threads remain visible to them, the same way an email you sent stays in someone else's inbox after you delete it from yours.
- Anonymized analytics — aggregate, non-identifiable usage statistics may be retained indefinitely.
- Subscription and payment records — required by tax and accounting law for up to 7 years. These records do not contain your card details (handled by Apple App Store / Google Play). They contain only the subscription plan name, dates, and amount.
- Routine encrypted backups — copies of your data may persist in our infrastructure backups for up to 90 days before being purged.
- Legal holds — if we are subject to a legal requirement to retain specific records (e.g., a court order, fraud investigation), those records will be retained for as long as legally required.
Timeline
- Immediately: account is deactivated, you are signed out, your profile is removed from discovery
- Within 30 days: your data is fully removed from active systems
- Within 90 days: your data is purged from routine encrypted backups
Cancellation grace period
For 7 days after you initiate deletion, your account remains in a soft-deleted state. Within this window you can cancel the deletion by signing back in to the app — your data and profile will be restored. After 7 days, deletion is permanent and cannot be reversed.
Cancel your subscription first
Deleting your Kapota account does not automatically cancel any active subscriptions. Subscriptions are managed by the platform store you used to purchase them:
- iOS: Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions → tap Kapota → Cancel
- Android: Google Play app → Profile → Subscriptions → tap Kapota → Cancel
Cancel your subscription before deleting your account to avoid being charged after the account is gone.
